SAFE HEALTH FOUNDATION
SAFE Health Foundation (SHF) is a division of Society for Accident Free Environment - a Hyderabad based registered and professionally managed non-profit organization.
SHF envisages the improvement of health profile of people from various sections in the society to achieve “inclusive growth” in the health sector. SAFE Health Foundation firmly believes in the WHO’s statement, “Health problems today are no longer merely the responsibility of those working on health, but require positive action by those outside the health sector” and committed to work towards development of health conditions in India.
Better health is the core element of human happiness and well-being. It makes an important contribution in economic progress of any nation, as healthy people live longer and more productive. Poverty is the key factor that impedes access to quality health services. In some developing countries the life expectancy of the poor is 20 years lower than other privileged members of society. Many factors influence health status and a country's ability to provide quality health services for the people. Measurable improvement in health standards could be seen when the efforts of Government, civil society groups, donor organizations and charitable communities are properly integrated to deliver quality services in this sector.
The private sector which accounts for about 70 percent of the health expenditure has some advantages such as flexibility and better response to patient needs. But access to services is contingent upon ability to pay, thus the quality medical and health services are still beyond the reach for the poorer segments, rural and interior parts of India.
SHF understands the impact of health of masses on the development of the country and the country’s poverty rate. It attempts to bridge the gap for the underprivileged population and the rural segments of India to get better accessibility opportunities to the quality medical services, thereby improving the health standards of the country as its contribution for the achievement of nation’s health goals.
In order to take the qualitative and corporate health services to the people from underprivileged and rural segments and the lower income groups, SAFE launched several scheme in association with well established healthcare service providers, insurance companies and other related service providers.
